Becoming a Terry Fox volunteer is an incredibly rewarding experience. Not only will you be sharing Terry’s message of hope, courage and determination, you will be giving your community the opportunity to be part of the greatest Canadian legacy, to raise funds for cancer research. Our Terry Fox events are 100% volunteer driven. We are always on the lookout for passionate Terry Fox volunteers to help further our mission of realizing Terry’s dream of a world without cancer.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU APPLY TO BECOME A VOLUNTEER WITH THE TERRY FOX FOUNDATION
Completing your application as thoroughly as possible will help us to find a satisfying role in our organization. Once our office receives your application, staff from the Terry Fox Foundation will review your application for suitability, interest, availability and our current opportunities (vacancies).
If we have current opportunities that align with your availability, we will reach out to you by email to arrange an interview (if required) or with additional information regarding next steps. Depending on the volunteer role(s)/positions/assignments that you are interested in, additional screening and checks may be required. You will be notified of any required checks during the screening process.
If a successful match is made between your skills and abilities and an available position and you meet our screening requirements, Volunteer Services staff will offer you a volunteer role/position/assignment. If you decide to accept the offer, a start date will be determined.
This year’s 45th anniversary Terry Fox Run is on September 14, 2025.

HOST A RUN IN YOUR COMMUNITY
Become a Terry Fox Run Organizer
Have you planned and organized an event before, even as simple as a birthday party? Do you have time to give? Then consider starting a Terry Fox Run in your community. Run organizers are leaders responsible for setting goals and collaborating with a team of volunteers to plan the annual Terry Fox Run. Planning begins in April through to September, with some post Run duties. The bulk of which is in August and September. Volunteers for this role must be the age of majority.

HELP PLAN YOUR COMMUNITY RUN
Become a Terry Fox Run Committee Member
Have you been part of a successful goal-oriented team before? A Terry Fox Committee Member is a leadership role that supports the community Run Organizer to meet their goals. Working together you will plan and complete all tasks required to host the annual Terry Fox Run unique to your community, including leading a group of volunteers on the day of the event. It has a May to September time commitment, the bulk of which is in August and September. Volunteers for this role must be the age of majority.

JOIN THE RUN DAY SUPPORT TEAM
Become a Terry Fox Run Day Volunteer
Join a team of volunteers to help out on Terry Fox Run Day with various activities including set up/tear down, registering participants, facilitating activities, selling merchandise and more. Must be available on Run Day, shifts may vary, and be available for training prior to Run Day. Volunteers must be 16+ years old, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.

TERRY FOX RUN ON CONFEDERATION BRIDGE
Volunteer Opportunities
Join us in celebrating the Terry Fox Run on Confederation Bridge on September 21, 2025. This unique event spans the whole bridge from PEI to NB and will host local participants, participants from all over Canada and the world.
We are looking for 250 site volunteers that are excited about sharing this experience. This is a great opportunity for sport teams, family groups, corporate groups, community groups and individuals to be part of a Canadian legacy celebrated in the most Canadian way. Volunteers must commit to an 8-hour shift and come prepared for the weather on the day of the event. Volunteers must be age of majority and complete training requirements.

HOST A RIDE OF HOPE
Become a Terry Fox Ride of Hope Organizer
The Ride of Hope is a unique fundraising and cycling experience for riders of all experience levels. If you love to cycle – and share Terry’s dream of a world without cancer – join or create a Ride of Hope today! We are looking for experienced cyclists with leadership qualities to organize a fundraising Ride in communities across the country. Organize your cycling club and/or the cycling community for a challenging mountain, road or gravel bike adventure. Saddle up the stationary bikes with your spin class.

HOST A SPECIAL EVENT
Become a Community Special Event Organizer
Are you thinking about organizing your very own Terry Fox fundraiser? A Terry Fox special event gives you the opportunity to express your creativity while fundraising for cancer research. This event adheres to the same Policies and Guidelines as the Terry Fox Run but allows you to be creative in how you host your event.

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES
Office/Administrative support
Unable join a Run but still want to give your gift of time? Do you live near one of our nine provincial offices and have time to give? We have in-office volunteer tasks all year long, tasks that include data entry, telephone work, mailings, filings, project support, and some remote work. This can be a weekly/monthly scheduled shift or on-call as needed per project, throughout the year, based on your availability. Volunteers must be age of majority.
